How dogs learn to play independently with it

The hopper opening is wider than the ball itself, so dogs figure out the drop-and-launch loop within a session or two — usually faster if you start by hand-feeding the first few balls into the chute. A built-in safety pause between launches keeps the dog out of the firing path. Most dogs that lose interest in passive toys still engage with this one because they stay in control of the rhythm: they decide when the next launch happens.

When this isn't the right launcher

Care

Wipe the exterior with a damp cloth — don't submerge or rinse, the launch motor isn't sealed. Empty the hopper between sessions if balls are wet from saliva or grass. Charge fully every 4–6 weeks during off-seasons to keep the battery healthy.
