Most dog raincoats hide your dog. The patterned fabric ones cover up the sweater you bought them for the season; the heavy waterproof shells flatten down their fluff. This is a transparent PVC poncho — they're still completely visible underneath, which matters for owners who want their dog's actual outfit (or actual dog) to show through. The trade-off is that PVC isn't insulated, so this is for keeping rain off, not warmth in.

It's a hooded cape cut: full head coverage from the hood, body coverage to mid-belly, and open at the legs so movement isn't restricted. Goes on in seconds via four snap buttons (a pair across the chest, a pair across the belly), and there's a slit in the back for a leash to come up through a harness underneath.

Why hooded transparent makes sense

Transparent does two practical things: a reflective collar or harness underneath stays visible to drivers at dusk, and the dog's existing winter sweater stays on display rather than hidden under another layer. The hood adds head and face protection that a flat cape misses — especially for dogs who hate water on their ears or eyes, and for short-coat breeds that get chilled fastest at the head.

What it doesn't do: insulate. PVC is a single thin layer with no fleece backing. For sub-freezing weather, layer a fleece sweater underneath rather than relying on this alone.

Materials and build

• Body: clear lightweight PVC, wipe-clean
• Trim: bound edges in one of 6 colors (Cloud White, Bubblegum Pink, Sky Blue, Mint Green, Onyx Black, Citrus Orange) — the only colored part of the poncho
• Closures: 4 plastic snap buttons total — 2 across the chest, 2 across the belly
• Leash access: reinforced slit on the back to clip to a harness or collar underneath
• Hem: rolled and bound to channel water down rather than pool on the back

Sizing — measure first

Sized XS to 8XL covering 0.5 kg toy breeds to 37 kg sporting breeds. The size chart below the gallery has neck circumference, chest range, and back length per size. Measure your dog before ordering — chest is the most common mismatch since fluffy or barrel-chested dogs read smaller than their actual girth.

If your dog is between sizes, go up — the snap closures have a few centimeters of give, but a too-tight fit at the chest will pop the snaps mid-walk.

Care

Wipe down with a damp cloth after each rainy walk. Air dry before folding — PVC sticks to itself if folded wet. Store flat or loosely rolled, not creased; sharp folds eventually crack the material at the crease line. Don't machine wash.
