Acorn Dog Treat Dispenser Toy — TPR Slow Feeder with Internal Maze

The trick with treat dispensers is the dispense rate. Too easy and it's a bowl; too hard and the dog gives up. This acorn solves it with a baffle inside the cap — chambers and ridges that slow the flow before kibble reaches the side hole. Dog has to roll, nudge, and shake to work pieces through the maze. Twists open by hand for refilling.

Why the internal maze matters

Most cheap dispensers have one straight hole — kibble pours out the second the dog tips it. This one has a baffle inside the cap with multiple chambers, so each piece has to navigate the maze before reaching the side dispense hole. A single fill keeps a moderate-energy dog working 5-15 minutes instead of 30 seconds.

Works with kibble and freeze-dried treats. Hole sizing fits 10-15 mm pieces — very large breed kibble may need breaking up first.

Materials and build

• Material: food-grade TPR (thermoplastic rubber) — non-toxic, BPA-free, gentle on teeth, holds shape under chewing
• Cap: ~10-12 raised hemispherical bumps in rows, acorn-cupule style — adds gum-massage effect during chewing
• Body: smooth bulbous base with a single side dispense hole
• Closure: threaded twist between cap and body — turns apart by hand, no tools
• Top loop: integrated hang loop on the cap
• Cleaning: twist apart, rinse both halves under the tap, air dry

Best for small to medium breeds (Frenchies, Cavaliers, Corgis, Beagles, Border Collies up to ~20 kg). Toy breeds can use it but have to push harder to roll. Very large breeds (Lab+, Golden+, Shepherd+) work it faster than the maze can slow — for those dogs, this is a 5-minute distraction, not a 15-minute occupier.

When this isn't the right toy

Care

Twist apart, rinse cap and body separately under warm soapy water — get inside the maze chambers, kibble dust packs in there. Air dry fully before reassembling; trapped moisture grows mold inside the baffle. Dishwasher-safe on the top rack but hand wash extends life. Supervise the first few sessions until you know how hard your dog chews.
